Dolan with Ann Owens

Dolan once said just before an Ann Owens appearance at the AFP that he couldn't decide whether her voice was more like Anne Murray or Patsy Cline.  On that trip, Ann set out to prove she could really sound like either.

Singing cover songs such as "Snowbird" or "Crazy" is something Ann can do very well.  Ann also does someting few Arizona folk artists have done--she sings one of Dolan's original songs, "Lady of the Ledge" quite regularly.

But Ann is a songwriter in her own right.  Her career began in the country  music world, but she continues to migrate toward more pure Western music.  Her CD, "Arizona" is full of those wonderful songs of the West.  That is her third CD, by the way.

On "Arizona," Ann recorded a song called "Yuma, Arizona," a song so great that she is always welcomed in Yuma with open arms.  She also wrote several songs about the Navajo Indians, including "Last of the Navajo."  Her song titled simply "Arizona" is another very nice tribute to the state she has made her home for the last few years.

Ann is a great guitarist who plays just about as hard as Dolan does, although hers is a 6-string.

Ann is a funny lady who likes to include some comedy in her routines.  The photo below gives just a clue about the personality of this lady.
