The Moffett House holds dear memories
for hundreds, maybe even thousands, of people who came there from June
1996 till May 2001 to hear Dolan Ellis, or an occasional guest artist,
perform for as many as 30 people at a time. Those who attended
one or more Moffett House shows may find these photographs quite nostalgic,
and those who never attended a show there will probably understand why
there was such an atraction to the old house. It was very common,
even after the shows had stopped, for a visitor touring the Moffett House
to walk in and immediately declare, "This is just like my grandma's
home!"

Visitors would see this building
as they turned left from Ramsey Canyon Road into the AFP property. The
scene is essentially the same today, although the charming old
covered bridge has been replaced by a more functional one. |
The
charm continues at the front door.. The lyric from the
1960s folk song: "Walk right in, sit right down" is
on the screen door, and lets visitors know they are about to
be made to feel at home. |

Bookstore windows facing west (toward Ramsey
Canyon Preserve), north (toward Ramsey Canyon Road) and east. This
is the front room of the Moffett House.
| Dolan warms up in preparation for
an afternoon's show. His Grammy certificate and one of many
Balladeer certificates are to the right of the stage. The photo
on the right was taken while looking to the north, and the bookstore
can be seen through the window and the doorway. |

The tables are made from cable reels, sanded and varnished by Dolan in
a painstaking process. One of Dolan's gold records, for the "Ramblin'"
LP, is between the door and the window. Three of his spectacular
photographs are framed in the corner.

The Moffett House bedroom includes
a bed labeled as the "Dolan bed," one from Dolan's mother's family. The
window looks to the east.
